5 Facts You Didn't Know About Our Ingredients

13th December, 2016

We're pretty proud of how much we pack into our tubs - those chunks and swirls are our pride and joy! But believe it or not, there's often more to a scoop than meets the eye (or the spoon). It's time to get up close and personal with your pint and find out more about just how much we pack under it's lid...

  1. Brownies With a Story

Our squidgy, gooey brownies come from Greyston Bakery, a social enterprise with a special way of doing things. By giving anyone who walks through the door a chance to work (which is a whole lot of people in Yonkers, New York!), Greyston Bakery offers people a chance to rebuild their lives through the power of baking. With the bakers getting training, community support, and a secure job, we think that's a pretty sweet deal!

  2. Veggie Friendly!

Did you know that all of our ice creams across Europe are suitable for vegetarians? We steer clear of all meat ingredients, including gelatin. Yep that's right - our legendary flavour gurus figured out a way to make our gooey marshmallow swirls not only tastebud-tingling, but veggie-friendly too. Pass us the Phish Food!

  3. Milk & Cream

Okay okay... we're pretty sure you all knew that our tubs contain milk and cream. You got us. But what's in that milk? For us, healthy land, dedicated farmers, smart energy and a strong local community are all key ingredients for a great product, which is exactly why we set up our Caring Dairy programme - a scheme all about producing dairy in a way that makes for happy cows, happy farmers and a happy planet. Smiles all round!

  4. Bananas

We believe that everyone deserves a chance, no matter who they are and how they look. This ethos extends all the way to our supply chain – to be more specific, our bananas. Yep, that’s right, bananas of all shapes and sizes make their way into our tubs, which means that no delicious fruit goes to waste just because it’s a little weird-looking! Plus, the skins have a second life as animal food, which means truly no banana is left behind.

  5. Free Range Eggs

All the eggs that go into our ice cream come from free-range and cage-free hens. Free-range standards make sure that laying hens have wholesome, nutritious food, access to clean water, and enough space - as well as all the other stuff that makes a happy hen!
